"There is healing in hijama."

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ · Sahih al-Bukhari

What is hijama?

An ancient remedy,
alive today

Hijama — wet cupping therapy — is one of the oldest therapeutic practices in human history. Cups placed on the skin create gentle suction, drawing blood to the surface. In wet cupping, small superficial incisions allow stagnant blood to be drawn away, supporting the body's natural healing.

Practised across ancient Egyptian, Chinese, Greek and Islamic traditions, hijama holds particular reverence in prophetic medicine — recommended by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as one of the best treatments available.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

  • "There is healing in hijama." - Sahih al-Bukhari
  • "Healing is in three things: A gulp of honey, hijama, and branding with fire (cauterisation). But I forbid my followers to use (cauterisation) branding with fire." - Sahih al-Bukhari
  • "The best medicines you may treat yourselves with are cupping and sea incense." - Sahih al-Bukhari

You don't need any prior knowledge, and you don't need to be Muslim. Everyone is warmly welcome.

Evidence for the sunnah days

Why the 17th,
19th & 21st?

"Whoever performs cupping on the 17th, 19th or 21st of the month, it will be a cure from every disease."

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ · Sunan Abu Dawud · Graded Hasan by Al-Albani

"The most beneficial cupping is that which is performed on the 17th, 19th or 21st of the lunar month, as the blood is stirred and in motion at that time."

Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah · Zaad al-Ma'ad

Questions

Frequently asked

+ Does it hurt?
Most people find hijama surprisingly comfortable. The suction sensation is unusual at first but many clients feel deeply relaxed throughout. The wet cupping incisions are very superficial — most people barely notice them.
+ Do you treat female clients?
At present our services are available for male clients only. We are working towards offering dedicated women's sessions in the future — watch this space, or drop us a message to register your interest.
+ Do I need to be Muslim to come?
Absolutely not. Hijama is a healing practice with roots across multiple ancient traditions. While it holds a revered place in Islamic medicine, this practice is open to everyone regardless of faith or background. You are warmly welcome exactly as you are.
+ How do I prepare?
Have a shower as it's not recommended to shower for 24 hours after treatment. Eat a light meal 2–3 hours before your session, stay well hydrated and wear loose comfortable clothing. Avoid caffeine on the day where possible. You'll receive a full preparation guide after booking.
+ How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. Some clients feel significant benefit after a single session; others find ongoing treatment provides more lasting results. We'll discuss what's right for you during your initial consultation.
+ Is hijama safe?
When performed by a trained and qualified therapist, hijama is considered safe for most healthy adults. All equipment is single-use and sterile. A full health consultation is carried out before every treatment and certain conditions may mean we recommend caution — this is all covered at consultation.
+ What are the marks afterwards?
Circular marks on the skin are known as ecchymosis. They are completely normal after cupping — ranging from light pink to deeper red or purple depending on your circulation. Although there might be slight tenderness, they are not painful and typically fade within 3–10 days.
